I didn't see what you're referring to, but I am certainly not ok with a reporter harassing a teenage kid. That's when a coach should be heads up enough to step in and answer the questions.

At some point, I guess, people who participate in this stuff have to understand what they're getting themselves into. There is worldwide scrutiny involved. If you can't take it, you may want to just be happy with being a regional or national class athlete instead of a world class one.

The guy just got dq'ed in the Olympic finals and he is egging him on, trying to get a good soundbite out of him. "You're going to WHAH?!?!?!? PROTEST??? Why???"
Thank you!! I've been disgusted by him this entire Olympics, grilling athletes like he's investigating Watergate.

The girl was bawling and the woman kept the microphone in her face waiting for the unanswered question. "How does it feel to just miss making the Olympic finals in 10 meter platform?"

Wairner is a dick I can agree with you there. However, I think the proof of his dickheadedness is when he would not give an interview post medal ceremony with the other 2 Americans. At that point he had a chance to cool down and get control of his emotions, unlike earlier when he stormed off immediately after the race.

Just my opinion. I have been extremely annoyed at the sideline reporting during these Olympics.

the girl is beating herself up and has a quivering lip before the interview even starts, interviewer asks her softball questions, she starts crying about how she is so disappointed, interviewer comforts her.

Sheesh. Nothing there to rip on the reporter for.

I didn't see any comfort all I saw was awkward silence.

if you don't have the class or maturity to sit in an interview, then don't.

that simple.

You are going to be hit with tough questions such as, "You were the favorite. You finished fourth. What happened?" or "Was the knee injury from 4 months ago a factor in what must be a disappointing last place finish for you?" "There has been criticism of your partying the night before this event. What do you have to say to your critics?"

I never knew people back home could get so furious about this? (and these are about the toughest kind that are asked).

I don't mind reporters asking the questions. They can ask what they want. It is their job to ask questions. I get annoyed at the reporter and anyone else that expects anything other than an emotional response when a microphone is shoved in somebody's face minutes after losing.

not deaf I was referring to the reporting holding her microphone next to the girls face as she was bawling. Put the microphone away and cut to commercial for pete's sake.
