Are you being serious? What do you think I am talking about? DO you thinking I was talking about DRIVING home in my truck? I just rode my bike home. I am sweating like a dog and I got home at least twice as fast as I could have in my truck becasue part of my route had a brownout and so all the cars were bumper to bumper. Of course, this made it more dangerous for me because all these idiots kept pulling into the very safe shoulder (just ask SPaz, he'll tell you how safe it is there) to see what was holding things up, even thought they had just gone through about three intersections with no working lights but, hey, you never know. I suppose I could have pulled oer and waited for a bus or found a train, but instead I slowed down, rode very defensively and came home under my own power.

Steel was also riding his bike. You should read the cycling forum more often.

Oh, I am not in a super impressive city like Dallas, but I would think a metropolitan area of over 7 million isn't exactly podunkville.

115, 111, 105, 2 million, 7 million. I wasn't commuting but I will tell you during our ride yesterday it was 81, no wind, miles and miles of green wheat and potato fields and no traffic. The winters may be hell but the summers up here are a little slice of heaven.

That souinds great. For my area these tempoeratures are unusually high, although we certainly get up there from time to time. I'll think about you this February when I go for a Saturday morning ride and try to decide if I shold wear tights or just leg warmers that I can peel off when the temps get back above 60 around mid morning.

Try riding 100+ with humidity, such that your sweat doesn't evaporate.

Hotter N Hell a couple three years ago was brutal. People were laid out in the shade of tiny trees on the side of the road. Two of the stations had run out of ice near the end. All kinds of people getting IVs at the end. This was Texas heat, not dry desert heat. I wouldn't wish this on any of you.

Btw, some of you should come to Hotter N Hell. In August. One of the best rallies/races in the country, I dare say with 11,000+ bike riders.

Yes Creek in February I truly will be wishing I was living the life in No Cal but right now I'm taking in every day of summer I can.

It sure sounds like one of the best rallies in the country. No shade for people to cool down under, not enough ice or water for all of the riders, 10,500 people who are probably unsafe to ride near in a group.

Sign me up.

Sign me up.
Then race there. Do the crit Friday night, then the road race in the morning. The race leaves before the unwashed masses.

And the no-ice thing was an anomaly. I have done it for 5 years.

Plus get all the pickle juice you want.
