I am fully prepared for a loss against the Utes, which will be punctuated by the selection of the Utes to a BCS bowl. So this is a very bitter season, one which should be regarded as relatively successful but the loss to TCU and the probably loss, potentially by big margins, will erase all joy from it.

A win does not erase the pain of the TCU losss but it minimizes it. The inconsistency of our defense means BJ will be the man of the moment if it comes down to who has the ball last.

10-2 and tied for 3rd place is not that bad.

Or sole 3rd if AFA loses.

It will only feel like failure to you because you let yourself buy in to the preseason hype. We all knew 2009 was going to be BYU's best chance at a BCS bowl, as it was unlikely this year that we'd sweep the AF, TCU, UU road triangle for the second time in as many tries (especially with so many questions on D). But when the media made us the BCS darling, too many bought into the hype and adopted a BCS-or-bust attitude. It would appear that you are among that crowd.

I didn't buy into the hype but repetition breeds boredom, and two years of walking through conference witll do that to you.

Losing to the Utes is never fun and doing when they go BCS is the worst insult. Hence, it will feel like failure in light of the commonality of the team's accomplishment and the failure of to experience what Utah is experiencing. It has nothing to do with media hype but more with the foregoing.
