Default How many have watched movies which one

believed at the time were good, but watching them years later revealed them to be hokey.

Top Gun is showing and it sucks. A guy mopes for much of the movie and doesn't show any thing.

Remember, the Streak? It was one song that brought a smile to my face, and still does.

Too funny, when I read the first line I immediately thought of Top Gun. Even more so now that Tom Cruise has so completely turned me off.

Is anyone going to go see Mission Impossible 3? Phillip Seymour Hoffman almost makes me want to, but I'm just sick of Cruise.

When I was a kid I went to a movie with my brother David called "Billy Jack." We were moved to tears; we loved it; we thought we'd seen the very personification of goodness and truth. It is a very didactic movie and very leftist in its point of view; to give you an idea, its theme song is "One Tin Soldier." Many years later as a grown up I was in a hotel room and turned on the TV late at nigt and it was on. I laughed like hell at both the hokeyness of the movie and the memory of how my brother and I thought it was the most moving, powerful movie we'd ever seen.

The Saint. I remember watching it with my cousin when I was about 13 and thinking it was an awesome movie. Then I watched it with me wife a couple weeks ago and was struck with how bad it was. Awful science, not-so-great acting, thin plot, etc.

BIlly Jack and One Tin Soldier! Exactly. I recall listenning to One Tin Soldier and thinking it was soooo profound and couldn't we all just see the wisodm in the words and try to get along ? I my furst garage band we did One Tin Soldier as a one of our ballads. Very corny and very poorly done but man were we sincere. Looking back it makes me laugh and cringe at the same time.

ANother one for me (and I posted this somewhere once before) was a movie called Phantom of the Paradise, which was very loosley based on Phantom of the Opera and was really just a chance for the troll-like Paul Williams to sell a few sappy songs. WHne I saw it originally, at about 12 years old, I think, I thought it was perhaps the best movie I had ever seen. ONe night a few years back my wife and I were watching TV late and it came on and I told her how great it was and we had to watch it. After 15 minutes she started giving me all kinds of grief and, sadly, I couldn't disagree. it was horrible.
