"Friend" gave the 5th Sunday lesson today...
powerpoint lesson on symbolism in the temple. He showed many of the symbols from the exterior of the early temples and explained them. Included were sunstones, cloudstones, moonstones, pentagrams, trumpets, compass, and square.
I learned that the Satanic nature of the pentagram is a modern invention, during the mid to late 1800's. Prior to that it was an ancient Christian symbol. For Mormons, it represents the "morning star." I also learned that there are early Christian depictions of the square and compass..... It was much better than the average fare. The point of the lesson was to encourage temple attendance, and temple scholarship. The word "Mason" was never mentioned. ============= "Friend" is the person who conversed with Dan in the Adam-God thread, for you newcomers. |
