Default Gregory Prince: Romney not the face of Mormonism

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/gregor...b_1897404.html

Then Harry Reid and the SLTrib have to follow up.

Romney is kind of a weird dude. I think if I were to meet him in person one-on-one, I would think he was one of those inscrutable guys that you can't really know very well. And that I might like him, I might not, but that there would never be a way I could feel close to him.

On the contrary, I think I could get to know Obama and over time, on a personal basis, theoretically become friends with Obama in a way that would not be possible with Romney.

But that doesn't mean I think Obama is a good president or would vote for him.

Like I said before, I think this "Mormon Moment" is highly overrated. I don't think anyone really cares, and the needle has only moved in the sense of precedence. No one else has to be the first Mormon nominee.

More follow-up. It's an interesting intersection of politics and religion. Much as the faith itself attempts to posit itself as a-political, it nevertheless leaves a political trail. That resonates with people.

Incidentally, Greg Prince is on the high council in my stake. I may listen more intently next time he visits my ward for high council Sunday.

I've watched three bishops operate in relationship to their stewardship of welfare needs.

And let me tell you, there are many reasons I never want to be a Bishop. This is high on the list. There are some that are essentially on permanent church welfare. You can imagine how ticked off they become when a new sheriff comes into town and says that things are changing.

It's very rare, IMO, but there are some that professionally abuse the system. Moving from ward to ward. And that's why Bishops will often contact prior Bishops.

So, I think most Mormons are perfectly happy to help the needy through tithing and fast offerings. But I also think that most Mormons would not like to see how the sausage is made.

I understand that Gregory Prince operates a kind of Mormon "salon" for intellectual-types or whatever you want to call them.

I very much enjoyed his book (the McKay biography).

Greg Prince is in charge of Dialogue if I am not mistaken.

Yet, here is another portrait of Romney most persons ignore. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion...Io2zq1LmrNInjN

I can't really get a handle on him. He would probably come across unapproachable unless I were introduced properly. OTOH, if he would refer business to me I might become quite enamored with him.
