Default Are any of you Republicans going to second-guess your affiliation

with the GOP, if Romney goes down because of his Mormonism?

The parties are actually not that far apart. You can find anti-abortion dem candidates. Pro-gun dems. Anti-gay marriage dems. Small-govt. dems.

It would be too bad if the dem party in Utah in particular can't capitolize on this bigotry to point out that many are mindlessly cozying up to people who hate them.

We cozy up to the Dems who hate us or to the Reps who hate us. Geeze what a choice. At least most of the Reps don't want to make me poor like the Dems do.

We have no real choices, to be poor and hated or to have a few buck and hated. I choose to have a few bucks in my pocket.

Liberals are more likely to not make Mormonism an issue. Look at Oregon and Massachusetts.

I have some really cool property in Nigeria to sell, along with some people who wish to give you Ten Million Dollars if you just send them five thousand to transfer the funds. Really.

Liberals f.. us smarter, conservatives are more blunt about it.

If you think any serious Republican thinks his party is free of all bigotry, you're just being silly. There are bigoted Republicans, just like there are sober Utes and drunk Cougars. In Romney's case, I don't think it's as much bigotry (although it exists in some quarters) as it is fear from uncertainty. Most people don't know a stitch about LDS values, and what they DO know may come from dubious sources.

In the end, if Romney sinks I don't think it will be because of his religion.

Some part of me hopes Romney wins the nomination, just so thoughts like this can be exposed for the garbage that it is.

I wouldn't be happy, but I certainly wouldn't go to the party that stands for basically nothing I believe in just because the GOP dumped Romney. There are plenty of mormons I wouldn't want running the country anyway.

What about Harry Reid? He seems to be only moderately insane.

Any Mormon who is a democrat would fall into the "I won't vote for him category", insane or otherwise.

So you literally are not aligned with a single thing in the democratic party? that actually is pretty unique. I rarely meet someone who is 100% aligned (knowingly) with all his/her party's beliefs.

I didn't say that. I am not 100% aligned with anyones thinking on anything. Not even President Hinckley's. I do know that any democrat will support democratic ideas most of the time. That means most of the time they will be supporting something I don't even though sometimes they will.
