FWIW, I find cycling much easier on the knees than running, as I do both fairly regularly. Good choice in your situation.

Did you by any chance play catcher in bball? Just wondering.

Default Yep, I played catcher my entire playing days...

from Little League through college. The knees held up until college and then all the stress of that postition seemed to happen at once. It didn't help much taht I took great pride in blocking the plate either - sometimes the knee was the body part between the baserunner and home plate.

Right now, my knees are hanging in there. I'm not in constant pain, but cold weather does cause some aching and standing up from a sitting postition - especially on the floor - can be a bit painful.

I have no plans in the near future for any kind of replacement, but my doc I have now has suggested that it may be necessary.

And the orthopod who took care of me drove a Mercedes. :shock:
