The U.S. has over a thousand military bases throughout the world. I bet we could cut this number in half without feeling any adverse effect. For both this country and the church I think it's time to circle the wagons and regroup. Spend the money on shoring up the borders, on reducing the deficit and on upgrading the infrastructure of this country. We are no good to any body if we are weak and broke.

First off, this article has nothing to do with the presidency.

Second, a 25% cut, as suggested by Barney Frank, would still leave us well above Clinton-era defense spending, even accounting for inflation.

Because what we really need in the War on Terror is a comparison to pre-9/11 defense spending.

Now you're being silly.

Why don't we cut the programs across the board 25 percent?

It's still the Clinton approach reduce military spending increase others. And it's clever to have Barney Frank carrying his water.

I knew I could count on you to bring up terrorism. I don't take disappointment well, so thanks.

I think you have me confused with some Arabs in the Middle East, but you're welcome.

How long have we had troops in western Europe? 65 years? Our military has been enabling the cradle to grave socialism over there that Cali loves so much. I say we give them a 10 years for them to build up their defenses and then we pull out.
