The pitch is gonna be feverish by September......I want the record to state I was on board in March!

If we beat Washington then I'll start getting pretty excited...yes even after just 2 games.

Reason being pretty simple: We can't seem to beat even average to crappy PAC-10 teams on the road. If we can do that,,,,then it could turn out to be a very special season.

We really have nowhere to turn but to unrealistic heights. 16 in a row in the conference, back-to-back bowl wins over the PAC 10, and top 15 rankings both years. Time to raise the bar. 14-0 in 2008, 13-0 won't cut it.

Cruiser was pretty over the top, but I agree with his conclusions. I think BYU will go undefeated this coming year and go to a BCS game.

Cali-

My heart wants to agree with you. BUT, my head (not to mention the ODDS) of this happening 3 years in a row (MWC) is staggering.

Honestly, I can't recall ANY team EVER going undefeated in ANY conference in America 3 years in a row...ever.

The chance for big heads, overlooking opponents, injuries (if Hall goes down from a blindside...who knows what happens then), not to mention how badly EVERY MWC team will want to beat BYU this year....and how BADLY UCLA and Washington will want to beat them this year....

Truly, my belief is, IF BYU can make it through as an undefeated team....we will have gotten every opponents BEST effort, in every game. BYU will deserve, and represent VERY well in any BCS game.

While I hope you are right, I am trying very hard not to let expectations get out of hand.

BYU is going to piss away at least one game this year, like they did with Tulsa last year. They will have at least one game where they will have a few key turnovers and give up a couple of big plays on defense and lose by 10 points or less.

The potential is there, but going undefeated is a mighty elusive butterfly.

This represents a misunderstanding of odds. Odds have no memory. Consider rolling a die. Before you roll a die, what are your changes of rolling the one die twice and getting a six both times? 1/36. However, once you've rolled a six, and you pick up the die to roll again, your chances of rolling a 6 on that roll is simply 1/6.

BYU doesn't have to go undefeated in conference three years straight right now. They only have to do it once, which is entirely possible.

I can't wait until we get to a BCS game this season and get blown out.

This isn't entirely true, because opposing teams have memories.

Hence the "bullseye" phenomenon.

Undoubtedly, BYU's likely to see other team's 'best efforts'. That shouldn't matter much for most of the teams we'll play this year. This also could be considered to be offset by enhanced experience & talent on the team this year.

I'm not sure I would put the odds of this year's team going undefeated any less than last year's team, considering the inexperience of last year's Offense. That may, in turn, be countered by the decrease in experience on D.
