BYU not out of the running for Jabari Parker

I still believe a bigger program will snag him for a year, if he's not eligible to go straight to the NBA, but any hope is better than none.

Coaches from several of the nation's top college programs were on hand to see Jabari Parker of Mac Irvin Fire and Simeon (Chicago, Ill.) lead his team into the final eight of the EYBL Finals on Thursday – Michigan State's Tom Izzo, Washington's Lorenzo Romar, Duke's Jeff Capel and Kurtis Townsend of Kansas.

Then there was Brigham Young. Yes, BYU. Parker – the No. 1 prospect in MaxPreps.com's Class of 2013 Top 100 – is Mormon and made it clear he was serious about the Cougars.

wow, could you imagine BYU landing the #1 high school prospect in the nation, that isn't Shawn Bradley?

He would probably be one-and-done, but it would be good exposure for the program. Great exposure, if ESPN decides to showcase him.

Strangely, BYU is in the running for a top 100 recruit this year to be added this year, dropping Martineau to walk on status.

This kid is receiving too much hype for the likes of BYU. Sounds like a great kid though.

He played in the FAB 48 Tourney here, and man is he fantastic. He is akin to the Big O, making Napper's nipples hard and Jimmermania look like a parade for Roger Reid.

As a high school sophomore, nor junior coming up, he would be the best college player on most college teams. Not certain, outside of Brandon Davies that wouldn't be true for BYU or even Duke. The kid has two more years to become otherworldly. Soft touch, power, explosion, agility....
