I bet Jimmer becomes a player Goat...but we see many big time high school players that become nothing more than solid college players.

As I have said before, Ricky Johns was the leading scorer in New York city hoops. He was first team all Bronx. On top of that, he was 2nd team JC all American. I think he was mis-used by Giac and we saw what he could do, but I think most would consider him a pretty good player but not all conference. It will be interesting to see how Jimmer does, and maybe he will surprise as a fresh, but I wouldn't be expecting much out of him the first year.

Ricky Johns was not the high school player that Jimmer was.

Jimmer is more athletic than Austin Ainge. He will be a similar player to Trent Whiting and Nathan Call. His high school is I think the second largest size in NY State.

I don't think he is the answer next year, but I think he is the future. I don't think BYU will have an answer next year. However, I think Fredette as an experienced sophmore and Cummard, Plaisted and JTav as upperclass will give BYU another great shot at that elusive NCAA tourney win in 2009.

Just curious as to to why you say that "Ricky Johns was not the high school player that Jimmer was."

I never watched Johns in High School, but looking over his high school accomplishments, well, it is pretty terrific. He averaged 29 points per game, 5 rebounds, 4 assists as a senior. He was the leading scorer in all of New York City high school basketball. He was first team All-Bronx and he led his high school to the New York City public school championship. That seems like a pretty terrific career there.

After that, in JC ball, he was all Bronx first team both of his years, 2nd team JC All American and he averaged over 20 points per game his second season there.

Physically, Johns is also 6'3" and 190 pounds and very athletic. Is Jimmer really superior, on paper, than Johns in all of those things?

Goat I hope you're right on this. Have you seen the video clip? Dude doesn't seem to have the lateral quickness you imply playing against guys that might rival my priest quorum basketball team.
