We also had lots of open looks that didn't go down either.

I agree that you did too. I'm also not saying that BYU's offense is bad based on that game.

I'll admit I'm very surprised by the outcome. Not because I don't think we're the more talented team,,,but because of the lack of resolve our boys have showed on the road this year, and I'm not counting neutral court games.

The fact we were able to win in a hostile environment with 2 of our 3 big guns playing terrible to me that proves that IF,,,,IF they're willing to try that they can indeed win when the chips are down.

Personally this game was a solid step forward and is the kind of win they needed to prove they can win on the road.

Fredette and Collinsworth came up huge today. Collinsworth is a scrappy kid...he and Shaun Green mixed it up quite a bit. Mike Loyd also played very well in how he ran the offense with Murdock on the bench. His block at the end of the first half was a big play as well.

I do think now the more I think about it that the BYU win over Louisville is more impressive over Utah's win against CAL.

Louisville is 13-5 overall and 3-2 in Conference play.

Cal is 11-6 overall and 2-4 in Conference play.

The Cal victory was on the road in a tough arena, the Louisville victory was neutral site.

Cal plays in the best conference in the country, Louisville plays in a worse conference.

If BYU ends up on the bubble for the tournament, the Louisville win will look good...and hopefully for both BYU and Utah, the road win at Utah will be a resume builder.

Then again, as Jim Boylan said the other day, 11-5 could win the conference this year.

The Big East and the Pac 10 are virtually identical. Both wins are huge, but Louisville is a bit better than Cal, this year. It is nice to actually have an argument about big non-home wins. I would say that our win today was our biggest of the year.

Just finished watching the game on DVR and only have a few comments.

BYU earned the win. They held on down the stretch and got it done. The difference was Cummard. That dude is a gamer and he'll win a lot of games for BYU while he's there.

Is there a 25 foot shot that Tavernari doesn't love?

If Plaisted could get it in his head that he has the ability to play at the college level, he would be a helluva player. Right now, he's a mental wuss.

The Utes are exponentially better this year than they were last year and the difference is Boylen. He's had to deprogram this team from the soft candy asses that Giacoletti taught them to be. While the loss was disappointing, the fact that the Utes didn't crawl under the bench and wimper like chijujajuas in a thunderstorm tells me that Boylen has them headed in the right direction.

It would have been fun to be at the game because it sounded like an energetic crowd and it was a very good game.

I do have to congratulate myself because I did post here that I had the feeling that the Y was going to pull out a win, though the ball didn't bounce off Plaisted's head and into the hoop for the winning basket.
