I think you underestimate the difficulty of winning in the tourney.
32 teams do it every year.

Which means 308 teams don't.

32 teams win at least one game and only 31 win conference championships, so winning a conference is harder than a tournament game. Point proven, Cougars program is better.

Turn out the lights on your way out.

My point is, yes, the tourny is important IF you make it really far. If you win a game, then nobody remembers that.

I disagree. Teams that consistently win a game or two, not every year, but consistently over a period of time are held in higher regard, IMO.

Gotta side with my fellow Volunteer on this one. MWC championships are only known regionally. Wins in the tourny, even one and done, allows for some national props.

But this is the conversation of those folks out in the basketball hinterlands. I live in the world capital of college basketball.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

Ye haw. Yes, fun times in Memphis right now.

I don't listen to a lot of sports radio, but I have caught a few discussions on college basketball out here in the east. When they talk about the MWC, Utah is the team. Why? They have consistently won a game or two in the tournament over the years. And a lot of "Boylen can get Utah back to where they were" kind of talk.

A dozen or so folks win a noble prize each year, so that's about 2X as hard as winning a round 1 game, right?
