No, because it wouldn't be sincere and the Bishop of my ward tends to reward insincerity with awful callings like Ward Activity Committee.

And yes, that would be a horrendous calling because I'd have to attend the ward activities.

No you wouldn't. The beauty of that calling is you don't need to attend church to fulfill it, you can have it at your house, and you can assign stuff to tohers and not go yourself and the worst penalty is you get released!

I would secretly be jealous that your calling is higher profile than mine.

Brilliant!

I'll have to remember this if anyone from the Bishopric ever corners me and tells me they'd like to meet in the Bishop's office.

For now, I'll continue to play cat and mouse.

Ward mission leader and scout master: the two callings I would seriously consider declining. Easy for me to say, I just got a calling I actually wanted. First time for everything.

Let me be the first to say congrats on the new calling, RC. You definitely got what was coming to you on this one.

This is exactly why I don't talk to anyone over the age of 18 at church. Except for a couple of apostates/borderlanders, like SteelBlue and OrangeUte. But I know I'm pretty safe from getting any kind of calling from either of them.

You may want to rethink your strategy, you just described my situation exactly. As I mentioned, the new EQ Pres. talks to two people at church: me, and the new secretary, neither of whom were in any position to influence who got called as the new EQ Pres.

Folks, say hello to your new High Councilman: Bro. Bluegoose.

It's an opportunity to serve and get blessings. It calls for celebration.

Its worked so far. See post #12 here. Despite being one of the first active posters on this site, notice who's name is conveniently missing from the calling roster.
