It's Christmas Time!!! Break out the videos!
We're watching Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer tonight. Wow, that whole North Pole bunch needs a heavy dose of diversity training, starting at the top with the fat guy. My kids are in shock.

We often watch It's a Wonderful Life or Miracle on 34th Street as a family, but there are two films we always watch:
1. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and 2. The Christmas Story (The one where the boy licks the frozen flag pole).

Bingo. Those are precisely the two movies we watch each and every Christmas season.

I'll agree with the two of you on The Christmas Story, but you're missing Charlie Brown's Christmas. I love that pathetic, scraggly Christmas tree.
The Grinch (original cartoon) will always be my favorite. "Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store... Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more." |

Frankly, all of those are good, and we have every single movie made about Christmas. Trust me. Once Thanksgiving is over, the movies come out until January 1st.
Nonetheless, I kinda like "Apocalyps Now" for Christmas.

This isn't about a Christmas movie, but if it is true, I want a copy of this right freaking now! Scroll down to "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!"

Archaea,
Your Apocolypse Now comment reminded me of my first Christmas with my in-laws. I woke up quite a bit earlier than everybody else so I went downstairs to watch TV. My FIL came down and asked me if I wanted to watch his favorite movie with him. A little while later, my wife woke up and was not too happy that her husband and dad were watching Gladiator on Christmas morning. What made it better was that my FIL insisted that we finish the movie before we could open gifts. Besides Gladiator, my favorite Christmas movies are Elf, Christmas Story, Family Man, and Wonderful Life. The invention of the VCR (and subsequently the DVD player) sure has had a great influence on how families spend Christmas together. |

How did that happen? Were you trying to rearrange their books by candlelight? BTW, I love how enthused you are to be a librarian. It's refreshing to see somebody enjoy their job so much.
