true, but it would have been nice, and inspiring to have seen urban build a program rather than using a program.

We all would have liked to see him stay. But who can blame him.
If someone wants to be a CEO, they don't stay on as a checker, just to be nice.

The MWC is what it is, and will never be anything more.

Weird that there is such rabid love for UM by Ute fans. It's like the dweebish guy in the singles ward who tells you about the one time he dated a Ute cheerleader. 15 years ago.
Yes, Urban is our 1984. Like the other dweebs, will never let go of it.

i don't know that this is a very good analogy.

still, i agree with you and don't blame him for leaving.

If he had been more forthright, "hey, I'm a prostitute, I'll go to the highest bidder", I'd respect that.

Everyone knew what he was up to. The rational Ute fans knew he was too good to stay in the MWC.

I guess we're all prostitutes. I'd pretty much work anywhere for a 6X salary bump, or whatever it was.

He pretty much did say that. He told Spence Eccles that in order to stay at Utah, Meyer would need an indoor practice facility. Eccles built it for him and Meyer announced he was leaving for Florida the day after he told the Utah team that he was planning on staying.

The funniest thing I've ever seen was in the practice facility open house when Eccles had Meyer in the northwest corner and was giving Meyer an earful. Meyer looked very uncomfortable and three different times tried to walk away only to have Ecceles stick his index finger in Meyer's chest and push him back. I even heard Eccles say "You'll walk away only after I am through talking to you."

I never expected Meyer to stay. He may have stayed a few years longer if the BCS didn't exist, but it is a glaring example of how messed up Division I football really is.

Fair enough. My post was more targeted at Brother Lingo.

Impressive to go into the Swamp and beat the defending national champions.
So Johnny I'm looking forward to you saying how you are disgusted about BM pulling that cheap "call the timeout right before the snap on a good field goal move."
