Interesting that in conference play Ferguson averaged a whopping 3.7 yards per carry, playing behind 2 first team all-conference lineman with 2 first team all-conference recievers to stretch the field and open up the run.

If they don't want BYU to get 1st team honors for all those positions, they should encourage other MWC teams to get better at each of those positions.

I don't understand how BYU did not fill each 1st and 2nd team full with just their own players.

FWIW, I think Unga should have been first team. Ferguson was held under 90 yards in five conference games this year and his receiving yards were brutal. Good player, but Unga was better overall. You take away Mack's Air Force game (where he was not the starter and only had a handful of carries), he put up better overall numbers to Ferguson as well.

How Ferguson and Travis Brown made 1st team all league was a Joke. Look no farther than what Ferguson did against SDSU. He was a freaking joke in that game against the worst run defenses in the country. I do think Goat Napper hit the nail on the head but you cannot have the Defensive Player of the year come from the last place team. I don't care how good Beau Bell is, his team Sucked donkey balls and his effort wasn't good enough to win more than 2 games.

What a joke.

I found it. The 2000 MWC Basketball Co-Coach of the Year was Air Force coach Reggie Minton, who went 8-20 (4-10 MWC) that year, after 16 straight non-winning seasons (one year they went 14-14, according to Wikipedia).

I thought he was fired the following year, but he may have left on his own. Either way, it's hard to imagine how one can see that it was anything more than a "be nice to the old man" award.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.
