Part of me says "Just win, baby." The other part realizes how ugly it will get when things head south.

It's just something a Ute will never be able to reconcile...

That's funny...I can't ever remember a time where I was offended at an AFA (or West Point or Naval Academy...or even ND or Stanford, etc) fan claiming that they have a unique or better caliber of student-athlete. He must be awfully thin-skinned.

I'm not convinced it will get ugly. As a football fan, it may. But I doubt the administration will care too much--he's saying all of the right things. They'd rather have a losing football program led by Bronco-isms than a winning one with group-sex scandals. I can honestly say that if my son were looking at football programs, I'd love him to be around a man like Bronco for four years. Given the odds against any college athlete building a pro football career, I'd be much more interested in the life skills he's developing and the role models he's around, than whether or not he goes to a bowl game. Say what you want about the appropriateness of what Bronco's doing, you can't deny he'd be a pretty good role model for a college kid.

Plus, if Bronco starts losing, the Ute whiners shut up. That'd be nice.

Nope. But I've never heard a BYU fan claim this (in seriousness) either. Only a bunch of Ute legends passed around.

I admit I cringe a little when Bronco (or anyone associated with BYU) starts highlighting the no drinking and no pre-marital sex with national media. I wonder why it gets brought up so much because (a) there is drinking and pre-marital sex going on at BYU, maybe it's proportionately less but who cares? and (b) I don't want a law-of-moses perception that kids who do drink or have pre-marital sex will get kicked out of the school. Having said that, I do like that Bronco has embraced the Honor Code; Crowton didn't, and therefore many of his great recruits didn't stick around.
