You and Jake Heaps are the only two people in the world under this impression.

Fortunately, BYU has mostly WAC teams from here on out. Chalk up losses to Oregon State and TCU, and BYU will finish 9-4 and the running of the mouths will quickly resume.

This is easily settled with a regression. If my HW ever dies down I'll run one.
You're one of the last defenders of the faith in almighty Bronco.

Whit's teams do not lie down and quit and are rarely defeated before they hit the field. There are lots of bad losses by Bronco's teams. I really don't believe any argument can be made in favor of Bronco as a better coach.

Whit has been a winner wherever he's been. Bronco has not. And he will diminish.

what's the name of that psychological phenomenon where people overgeneralize wildly based on the recent past?

Final Sagarin Rankings:

Year Utah BYU
2005 63 53
2006 35 7
2007 35 21
2008 10 26
2009 32 23
2010 38 53
mean 35.5 30.5
root of variance 16.8849045 18.60913754

I guess technically Whit is more consistent because of the lower variance. But he's had one top-25 finish.

Yuck, I feel like Indy with these descriptive statistics. Must...run...regression.

Bronco has three or four bad losses to TCU.

Bronco has at least two bad losses to Utah

Bronco has two bad losses to Florida State.

Bronco has a bad loss to USU and a bad loss to Nevada.

Those stand out in my head without engaging in further detailed analysis. I could go on. How is that a recent phenomenon?

A zoobie's hubris is always something to behold, and especially these days to laugh out loud at. Why should Utah want to play BYU? Why should Utah want to let BYU have nay chance at all to carve into its advantage in recruiting, fundraising, etc. that comes with Pac 12 membership? It's irrational and against Utah's interests that Utah even plays BYU any longer. BYU is Utah's charity case. (For these reasons among others Utah would also implacaby oppose BYU joining the Pac, which would be a non-starter in any event because of BYU's terrible, shameful history.)

Ask yourself why Utah is BYU's only quality home game this year and in the future.

I'd swallow bad losses in exchange for top-25 finishes. If you're Utah you'd suck all year round.

Heh. Good to see you over on this side, SU, spouting your usual nonsense. Welcome back.

Last year: If we don't improve security at the rivalry game, I'd rather not play it.
This year: If we don't play them at the end of the year, I'd rather not play it.
