I know the circle you run with think the best five running backs returning next year in the nation all will wear BYU blue, but I'm a bit more skeptical.

Fui's good, but he had half the carries CB had. CB was our leading pass catcher, and Fui caught only 10 passes. I think if teams game plan for Fui as the #1 back, he won't flourish as much.

All our RB's that return: Fui, Tonga, Harvey are big bruisers. None of them are in the mold of our #1 RB's of the past: Brown, Brathwaite, Staley, Jenkins, McKenzie, Hall, Willis. Hudson's not the answer.

Also, with a new QB and stud OL, it would be nice to have a very strong running game to help ease in the new QB.

He's going to be here for a long time folks.

Holly Mendenhall isn't moving again unless Bronco gets fired.
Why wouldn't he go somewhere else. More money and a chance to play for a championship. I find it odd that BYU fans who don't know Mendenhall can say that he will stay like it is the gospel truth.

I am not able to speak in absolutes either way.

BYU early on put out a first-come, first-served single scholarship offer to several players and DiLuigi quickly took it. Obviously, the coaching staff doesn't share your reservations about the RB corps.

BTW, DiLuigi isn't exactly chopped liver either.

Maybe Bronco will tire of the quirks of BYU and dealing with a goofball studio host for his TV show and look elsewhere.

I'm excited about DiLuigi but I'd still like a JC. Also, didn't I hear DiLuigi was going to move to slot back?

I am able to speak in absolutes with no hesistation.

Talk to Holly Mendenhall sometime Funk.

Trust me when I tell you that they aren't going ANYWHERE unless Bronco gets fired or "resigns under pressure" like Crowton did. Money is not Bronco's motivation and never has been.

Bronco's motivation and desire for how he sees the mission of BYU football is so deep it's almost scary how devoted he is.

There will be the obligatory investigation into Bronco's availability from other programs from time to time just as there was with LaVell. And NO I'm not comparing what Bronco has done to what LaVell did.

Reminds me of my favorite Crowton joke from years past, when he requested $2000 to appear in a two-hour public venue. The critics said, can you blame him for not wanting to spend his afternoon surrounded by whiny zoobies?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Which just goes to show that Crowton wasn't as stupid as some would have you believe.

I am excited about the apparent abilities of several of the early commits, but I also believe it's usually unfair to expect much of a contribution from freshmen. If you receive it, great, but one shouldn't expect it.

I agree, and we should get plenty of production out of Vakapuna and Tonga as juniors next year.
