Hitler also drew hundreds of thousands to his rallies, so I'm sure glad Obama is emulating Hitler in more ways than one.

Like the Soviet show trials during their 1930s purges, Obama's speech was not supposed to convince critics but to reassure supporters and fellow-travelers, in order to keep the "useful idiots" useful. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/T...eech?page=full

The left may say that they are not racists or anti-semites, like Hitler, but neither was Mussolini or Franco. Hitler, incidentally, got some of his racist ideology from the writings of American "progressives" in the eugenics movement.
Jonah Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism" is too rich a book to be summarized in a newspaper column. Get a copy and start re-thinking the received notions about who is on "the left" and who is on "the right." It is a book for people who want to think, rather than repeat rhetoric.

Huh? Is Obama getting large crowds an "argument"? Yes, he's very popular. So what?

You made a "cutesy" little jab at me, and I responded in kind. Grow a thicker skin.

Study the careful manipulation of crowds, the "adoring" public and some other subtleties which Obama and his crowd is employing. You're ignoring the techniques Hitler and Goebbels brought to politics. When I see political gatherings evolving into huge mobs, I immediately start remembering the exposes on Hitler and crowds.

There will be subtle lighting changes, music and lots of themes which subconsciously control the mobs.

Apologies to you, because I like you but I do not like your Obama God.

Um, yes. It is an argument he is popular. The most popular candidate typically wins the election. I thought you would get it by now. Triplet even posted pictures to make it easier to understand.

So rather than address the content you ridicule it because you're afraid of its accuracy.

No, I ridicule it because of its incredible stupidity.

If you want to take issue with "crowd manipulation" (however you define that), then you ought to at least be honest and acknowledge that it exists in every aspect of your life. The movies, political speeches, advertisements, church ceremonies, magazines, books, parades, jury trials, you name it.

Of all of those forms of "crowd manipulation" mentioned, I would bet Obama's "crowd manipulation" is among the weakest. Have you been to an Obama rally? It is a stump speech (including the one given in Oregon). He didn't control the lights (they were outdoors), he played upbeat music (they all do), and then he gave his speech.

You also assume that Obama's "manipulation" is the reason the people like him, as opposed to any other countless number of reasons (they like his ideas, being one). Instead, you matter of factly state that the people are just being "manipulated" and are too dumb to know the difference. Talk about elitism.

And you tie it all up with a reference to Hitler? Should we compare Stephen Spielberg to Hitler too? For these (and many other) reasons, this is quite seriously the dumbest argument you have advanced on CG to date. Just because you saw it in a blog doesn't mean you should repeat it.
