Braveheart?
What about Braveheart? I have a soft spot for these types of epics. And I know some folks praise this film to the stars. I have not seen it and don't want to waste $4.00 and time watching the first 30 minutes if it's not great. The problem is complicated in that I find Mel Gibson such a terrible human being. I loved Road Warrior but last week I read a reviewer I respect who has similar loathing for Mel Gibson say that while his skills as a director are formiddable everything from Road Warrior until Apocalypto has been crap.
Thoughs? Should I see Braveheart? I really really hated that Rev. War pic. he made so if it has that kind of sentimentality and coarsening of important historical events that's all I need to hear.

I would watch it. That and Shawshank Redemption are two of my favorite movies.

Braveheart rules. But then I didn't hate the Patriot either.

What I liked best about Braveheart was that Gibson went back to the DeMille way of casting thousands of extras. The battle scenes are terrific with so many extras.
While we're at it, should I see Troy? I've heard only good things about it from a neighbor who thinks Pitt couldn't make a bad movie even if he tried.

Braveheart had many historical inaccuracies, and was not as good as Liam Neeson's movie made about the same time. Rob Roy is better IHMO.
Braveheart is broadcast on the tv movie channels constantly.
