Gays legitimately exist.
I mean, are there illegitimately existing gays? You are going to have to get more creative about stopping gay sex, which is really what this is about for you. |

I'm not foolish enough to think I can stop people from being immoral (sexual or otherwise), but I can at least support society in continuing to recognize it for what it is.

Do you mean you wish you had the control to force people to conform according to your perceptions of proper morality? The bolded statement is gobbly-gook to me.

Hardly. As I said in the beginning, society has long used the law to outline the boundaries of morality. And in this case I support it being used to preserve traditional marriage, as a matter of morality.

We'll agree to disagree. I believe government should get out of the business of marraige altogether establishing only dps and letting the churches define marriage for their congregations.

I agree with you, Arch. Let the state dole out the contract rights, and let the churches settle their own moral boundaries.

What I think we can agree on, then, is that gay marriage (or marriage at all) is neither a civil right, nor "evil" to lobby against.

I never bought into the "right" or "evil", but it is simply another in a laundry list of things which parts of the constituencies desire. It is really a modern extension of gender roles and gender politics.
