Glad to know there's another Do the Right Thing fan around here. One of the most underapreciated movies ever. I wish Lee could come up wiht something else half as good.

I haven't seen very many of Spike Lee's movies, but I really liked Malcolm X ("We didn't land on Plymouth Rock -- Plymouth Rock landed on us!"). And I finally saw He Got Game over the summer and I thought that was an awesome movie. I watched it after reading the book about Sebastian Telfair's senior season of high school and being courted by colleges, the NBA and, most importantly, shoe companies and it was a good follow up. It's crazy to see what those kids go through -- I didn't think I could handle the temptations, so that's why I laid off my great athletic prowess at the end of high school. Lots of language, a scene or two of the less-clothed body, but a really good story.

"I don't want to live in world where Denzel doesn't have an Oscar!"

Sidenote: Ray Allen, who played the baller Jesus Shuttlesworth, has a vanity plate on his Escalade: Hay-sus.

I only saw "She's Gotta Have it."

A weird insight. Obviously he has some talent, but his subject matter is almost always black subculture, something with which I'm not familiar.

I'd like to see him branch out into other arenas to judge his ability to direct something novel.

Spielberg tries many things, sometimes successfully, sometimes not.

Has Spike something other than black hate?

Super late to this thread:

1. Field of Dreams - greatest movie ever made
2. Hoosiers - second greatest movie ever made

The rest after that I like a whole lot:

It's a Wonderful Life
The Usual Suspects
Forrest Gump

I could go on really...

Here's a few movies I have watched more times than I'd like to admit:

Karate Kid - "You're the best around"
North Shore - "I've seen bigger waves in a toilet" Occy, Foo, Ho, Hedeman, and Laird Hamilton.
Rad - Out of print, got it on eBay and a DVD copy too. Also, got the soundtrack.
Out Cold - Great soundtrack, hilarious.

We ought to form a separate, closed forum devoted specifically to this movie. Our poster child could be SteelBlue wearing his new "Sweep the Leg!" shirt.

Has anyone tried to show this movie to a teenager in the past few years? Do they enjoy it as much as I did as a kid, or do they just laugh.

"Put him in body bag!!!"
