Default question to the Ute fans

If you could only be good in either football or basketball, which sport would you choose?

Obviously the basketball tradition is much stronger.

Only one or the other?

That's a tough one, but I'd have to go with basketball because the Utes would have a chance to win a national championship.

Football, OTH, has been ruined by the BCS. There is no chance for Utah to ever win a championship.

Basketball for sure. I prefer college hoops to college football. Also, if I am good I will make more money in the NBA and have it be less physically demanding on me.

For me, I would choose football. After all, we have the national championship to defend.

I will to my dying day blame BYU and their national championship (which I never saw happen so it's almost as if it didn't happen) for the BCS.

Thanks for ruining it for the rest of us.

Will you blame us when the BCS is brought to its knees?

No. I wouldn't want my Cougar friends to think that I blame them for everything.

Personally, I would choose football...it is the big dog in the world of college sports. Basketball is king during March maddness and then largely forgotten until the last 5-10 games of the season leading up to conference tournaments.

Sure, making a final four run is incredible and the sports community is a buzz, but it doesn't last.

An example of this would be George Mason here in Fairfax. I think that season tickets for this year were sold out during the final four run last year. Well, Jai Lewis and other key components graduated and left a sub-par team expected to perform at a final four level when they are no where near close to that ability. Sure it helped recruiting, and it energized the local fans like never before (Mason is a comuter school as well), but at the end of the day, George Mason will likely never "Pull a George Mason again."

Moving over to football, Boise St. can stay in the WAC and dominate year in and year out and occasionally make a BCS run and add 13 million to thier own and everyone else's pocket.

Football drives all of the other college sports financially and from a business/marketing perspective. There's just more interest.

Ask Duke fans if they would trade one national title in basketball to win the ACC and go to a BCS bowl in football and I bet a number of them will.

Football is king.

I disagree with you in how Duke fans would trade a BCS bowl for Basketball titles.

Some schools are simply basketball schools, while others are football schools.

Duke, like UCONN is a Basketball school. They are also Satan.
