Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

we'll see. Early voting is not a good indication because it's going to be the most passionate who vote early, and they can be any age. But I hope you're right that the younger crowd is going to show up this time because the Libertarians are heavily dependent on them as well.

I'm not recharacterizing anything. You're a liar.

Carry on.
According to the latest in NC, Libertarians are having an impact there. Of course, the mere fact that states like NC are even in play is an indication that McCain has no chance anyway.

I don't think it is the most passionate. To the contrary, I think the Obama ground game is focusing on those people who express an interest in voting for Obama, but not a lot of passion, which would indicate they may not vote on election day unless they are led to the polls by a campaign helper. It is much easier to get them to vote early so the campaign can focus on other people on election day.

Shh- don't tell Tex. He doesn't think NC is in play. He also finds the thought of the Dems winning NC "amusing."

Everyone loves to bash polls before the election even if they are consistent. No one ever goes back and admits that 90% of the time the polls turned out to be right. The governor's race in NC is going to have an impact on how the presidential race turns out. It's also a dead heat. Turnout will probably be high. I found this poll very interesting. It didn't ask about Barr specifically, but it shows Libertarian Michael Munger at 7% in the governor's race, with 14% support from voters ages 18-34.
