someone's dad on cougarboard did.

He had been stake president, and he put his papers in to go on a mission, and was disappointed when he was assigned to be a regular missionary, and not a mission president, LOL.

I don't know if that guy was trolling, or had misinformation or what. I can't imagine a SP being so misguided.

I have an acquaintance who was going through a divorce and lamented that now he'd never be able to serve as a bishop. Crazy as it is, I'm sure there are those who aspire to status callings.

I consider that one of the perks of divorce.

The only time I ever remember hearing my mom or dad make any reference to divorce was when my dad asked my mom if they could get divorced (and then remarry) so my dad wouldn't have to serve as a bishop.

She said no.

He's now a bishop.

Anyone that wants to be a mission president has never been a mission president before.

Or never served a mission or didn't pay attention while out.

I've searched the handbook and I can't find this no divorce requirement. Is it on the Bishop Recommendation form?

I should note that one of my childhood bishops cheated on his wife shortly after they were first married (long before he became a bishop). I don't know what disciplinary action was taken at the time, but they remain married today.

And yes, I'm aware of the Timothy "husband of one wife" Biblical citation.

I'm sure it's just an urban legend. But even the rumor of a way out is awfully tantalizying.

The daughter of the president of the San Dimas stake is a big-time T-R-A-M-P. And I mean big-time.
