The future of BYU basketball is in the hands of 2 guys
who look like the guy who raises his hand over and over in religion class.
It's going take some real faith! https://twitter.com/NickEmery04/stat...rc=twsrc%5Etfw |

I once went to a BYU basketball game in the early 2000s. It was against New Mexico. I had a friend with me who didn't know much about either team but he does watch basketball. During pre-game warmups he commented on how big and athletic the New Mexico players looked. He seemed to think they looked like the better team by far.
BYU blew them out. I am excited for the next few years. Emery we know will be good, and Haws can draw from his brother and dad's experience to help him get back in shape. He should be very good also. We also know Mika was good before his mission. Payton Dastrup could have gone to Ohio State, Virginia or Florida. I think we'll be pretty solid both inside and outside more than we've been for quite a few years. Last edited by BlueK; 04-20-2016 at 05:39 PM. |

Expectations will be quite high for next year. It looks like a lot of the deadwood that got playing time in the last couple years will be pushed down the bench or off the roster altogether.
I'm kind of laughing at the speculation that Kaufusi will quit basketball for football because of the realization that he might not be NBA material nor a starter for BYU. Umm, why in the world would Kaufusi expect to be a pro prospect with so little experience, so little basketball IQ? Because he has some height. Guys his height are a dime a dozen. His athleticism would not even be average in the NBA for his position. Stick with what you got and try to improve. If you don't want to compete, then quit. |

My prediction is Mika goes on to have an illustrious career and 30 years from now there are still some utah fans who will talk about how he almost transferred to utah but didn't because of some last minute dirty trick by BYU to keep him, even though it was never a credible rumor to begin with. It was started and kept alive by a poster on ute fans.net who goes by the name "wannabeaute" or something like that. As much as some utah fans want to think we aren't their rival, they keep proving on a daily basis that they can't stop thinking about BYU.

BYU just got an official visit yesterday from a transfer from the U of Houston: LJ Rose, a 6-3 point guard. He was a big time recruit out of HS who had offers from schools like Kansas, Kentucky, Texas, Baylor, Georgetown, among others. He's from Houston. Signed with Baylor. His dad played with Dave Rose at Houston.
He played one year for Baylor and then transferred to UH because his mom was in poor health and he wanted to give her a better chance to see his games. The NCAA allowed him to transfer without sitting out. Was good for Houston when he wasn't injured. Has had a recurring foot injury and got a medical redshirt for last season. He just graduated last week and announced he wants to transfer for his last year. He's eligible to play immediately. I just heard an interview with a Houston sportswriter that played today on a Provo radio station. He talked about how he's a great floor leader and great person. He said he's a mature, unselfish player who helps others play better. If he can be healthy he thinks he can really help a team like BYU. He knows of no other visits he's chosen to take so far. BYU has a scholarship to give for this season. Sounds promising. http://www.vanquishthefoe.com/byu-ba...duate-transfer http://247sports.com/Recruitment/LJ-...cruitInterests Last edited by BlueK; 05-17-2016 at 09:02 PM. |

Interesting CB thread here on LJ Rose and a few other topics. Apparently his plans changed and he will actually visit BYU next week instead of last Monday.

I'm sad that Michael Loyd didn't work out at BYU. Seems like there was some friction between him and BYU. He was very dynamic in his last season, even rivaling Jimmer. And then he disappeared into a small program (Midwestern State in TX IIRC).
