Blue K, I agree that the Greek NT provides less context and guidance, if one focuses upon one provision, but if we aggregate the texts, there seems to be some consistency, providing that is fair to treat individual texts in that method.

The Lukan text appears to be the text that Barbara makes reference to, but I am not certain.

The key word is the translation of epitimao, which we use as rebuke.

Strong's shows:

From epi and timao; to tax upon, i.e. Censure or admonish; by implication, forbid -- (straitly) charge, rebuke.

So I'm not certain the Greek text alone sheds much light upon the concept. Though other references show the correction to be one of longsuffering in accordance with the D&C.

I don't know what to make of the fact that the verb aspect is in aorist. The usage of aorist in this context doesn't shed any light upon the subject for me, but it might for others.
