Or my personal favorite is the estate planning that writes his firm into the will and trust. I wonder how many are disappointed when they are not in the will actual probating thereof.

Of course, I know some guys making 400 to 500k just off probate fees.

Wow, that must be a pretty high volume. I know in my state it isn't unethical to write yourself into a will but I don't think I would do it. Just too easy for an heir to point a finger and make a bar complaint later on. I don't need the money that badly.

No, the volume is low, the estates are simply very large.

And I make the client sign a statement that I advised them against it. I'm uncomfortable doing it, unless they persist. Of course, I've lost a lot of money that way.

My father-in-law had the same policy for his employees. He told them that they were there to work, not smoke. They could smoke all they wanted on their lunch break, but that was it.

He also had a "no PMS" policy. Women would argue with him about not understanding, but he would tell them that he had a wife and three daughters and knew that there were products on the market to give women a bit of relief from PMS and would suggest that they use it. To be fair, he also let his male employees know that they had to leave their non-work related problems at home as well.
