Default A different world

I found out today that the geosciences program at my alma mater (University of Texas at Austin) recently got a $500,000,000 donation (yes, five-hundred freakin million dollars) from A SINGLE DONOR. Oilman from Dallas, I believe.

Sheesh. That's just unbelievable.

Yes. But a single donation like that is remarkable at any school.

Yes, it's remarkable.

If something like that went to BYU, they might decrease the class size of the classes that have 1000 students per class.

Wow.

Notice that the donation came from an oil man. When was the last time a tree-hugger ever gave that kind of money to a university?

What tree hugger has got 500 million? And if they did don't you think that they could find some better uses for it?

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.
