I didn't realize he has been in numerous fist-fights with teammates, including Jan Jorgenson.

Sounds like he is still a rough stone rolling.

I think it's safe to say that no man knows Max's history.

His MP is a from a spud growing/trucking/processing plant cartel family in my stake. He was the SP when I moved to Idaho for about a month. I take Max is not likely to be confused with those world famous Idaho missionaries that have been the backbone of missionary service for the past 100+ years.

I tried to warn some of my favorite Ute fans that Max's mission "not working out" might be an indicator that the fella has a little bit of Jimmy Dean "Rebel without a cause" and not so much that he was a pussy. IIRC, I was mocked, but perhaps there are those who might understand what character attributes I was referencing.

Max Hall is a spitting image of Marc Jackson, IMO. Very similar personality types.

I had a guy from Arizona tell me he is no John Beck off the field. He wasn't as spiritual as John. I guess the guy was a little taken back when I said, "who the hell cares". He is on a football scholarship not a religious studies scholarship.

From the article:

Quote:
But things did not go smoothly once he got to B.Y.U. Hall found out right before his first season with the Cougars that he was not eligible because he had not been on his mission long enough. During his unexpected redshirt year, Hall left a distinct impression on the staff.
Huh?

I believe it gets back to the rule that if you transfer to another D1 program, you must sit out a year. Usually, for RMs, that doesn't apply, as they have been out for two years, and they are open game, recruiting-wise.

Since Hall had only been gone 7 months, he was still subject to transfer rules.

Aha. That makes sense. Thanks.

MP from Idaho? Everything is coming into focus.

I now see Max as a kindred spirit.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.
