Which is why I find this report so difficult to believe. To be serious for a moment, listening to you and DDD, you'd think it's amazing Palin can tie her shoes in the morning. You'd think she was gift-wrapped the Alaskan governorship, and that all she does all day is sit around and play The Sims.

I acknowledge her last two interviews have been subpar, but don't you honestly think this has more to do with bad preparation and bad delivery, more than that the woman is actually that stupid and/or ignorant?

I don't expect you, being the person that you are, to give her the benefit of the doubt. But even for you, this Palin Is Stupid crusade is a stretch.

And don't forget Griswold v. Connecticut. My memory has faded but I believe that was about Chevy Chase being denied the right to purchase Trojans after he drove past Christie Brinkley on his way to Wally World.

That's how I remembered it.

Was that a Justice Douglas case?

I think the ones I listed are the bedrock except maybe adding Dred Scott and N.Y. Times v. Sullivan. But for the First Amendment I prefer the drama and clarifying effect of National Socialist Party of America v. Village of Skokie, 432 U.S. 43 (1978). That's always been my favorite First Amendment/prior restraint case.

Considering how many times she's been smeared the past few weeks I'm surprised she couldn't name Sullivan.

Skokie was a good one. I would think for lawyers it is pretty easy to rip off the names of a few cases becasue even if you don't practice federal con law on a daily basis, there will always be a few case names that were seared into your brain in law school (you think I remember Pennoyer v. Neff from a happy place?).

Palin is no legal genius, that much seems clear. OTOH, I would not be shocked to find that many of our non-lawyer governors and legislators at the national level, if put on the spot would be simialrly unable to come up with some names.

You are in the wrong jurisdiction to bring up that case.

LOL, you're right, international shoe! I even screwed it up. What a miserable few weeks that was.

This as well as Griswold is redundant if you know Roe. We're talking about what would you expect the average non-lawyer politician to know. Stop showing off.

ever asked?

Again, the media is doing very well at targeting a specific candidate and applying different rules to that candidate according to their dictates and wishes.
