UZI's use 9mm rounds.

I didn't know that. I thought they used .22 rounds.

But what if they start teaching my kids in school that owning Uzis is normal?

That's not going to happen. You 2nd Amendmentaphobes and your irrational fears.

Sheesh.

Well, it's not people's fault if they desire to own Uzis - they were born that way. They can't help it because that's how nature made them.

Also, you can't expect an Uzi owner to never pull the trigger - it's simply not acceptable to deny Uzi owners the wonderful benefits accorded to full participants in the Uzi society by asking them to live their lives without pulling the trigger.

Ok, I'll oblige.

All adult males are in the general militia, so why not have automatic weapons? How are we gonna repel an invasion or attempted government tyranny without some high-powered weaponry?

But beyond that...

Go shoot some crap out in the desert with an automatic weapon and get back to me. I've shot Uzi's and they're fun as hell. Same for the AK-47 - the one thing the commies got right.

I'm no legal expert, but it seems the roots of the 2nd Amendment lie in a mistrust of government and in their desire of citizens to defend themselves against the threat of a tyrannical goverment. You may disagree about the reality of this threat now, and I would actually agree with you--I think the threat of some lunatic getting a hold of one of these at my kid's school is greater than the government trying to take over my house.

So amend the constitution. But don't try to sidestep the rules.

They can. 9mm and .22 LR are the most popular variants. They can be made for other calibers too like .40 for example. Not sure why you'd want something more than 9mm though with the blow back on that gun, then it's not necessarily one you use to target shoot with.
