I'm not sure about this concept for a restaurant, but it is reminiscent of a story in Freakonomics. I may be misremembering some of the details, but I believe a guy who owned a bagel business that supplied local businesses found that he made more money on a "name your own price" model than when he charged a fixed price. Or maybe it was something different. I have loaned out my copy of Freakonomics, so I can't check. Anyone feel free to correct me.

I was watching the news last night - Channel 4, the ABC affiliate here - and the reporter was railing that Rush Limbaugh had mentioned this place specifically and said that a business that isn't being run to make money kind of defeats the purpose of going into business.

From what I saw on tv, there are too many hippies there. I won't be going there.

Speaking of that show....Guy Fieri was did a show from Moochies downtown a few weeks ago...and their Meatball sandwiches are awesome. I never thought I'd say they beat Caputo's...but it does. Good stuff.

Their Philly Cheese is also authentic good stuff.
