There are two polls, one having BYU at 23 and one at 27. Of course BYU is down 5-6 against LMU as the pitching has deserted it.

A Utah fan just admitted he made the whole thing up two years ago and is surprised how many believed it. Typical of their idiot fanbase.

This is attracting some serious national attention now (as much as that is possible in college baseball), believe it or not.

Now at the halfway point of the college baseball season this site just put out its first NCAA bracket projection and has BYU as a #1 seed hosting one of the 16 regionals. I don't know if BYU can hold this spot for the rest of the season, but being talked about as this level of team so far this year is a BIG deal.

Coach Littlewood is building a nice program here now which was so overdue at BYU. Now his next challenge is going to be rebuilding every year as he is going to be getting a few kids drafted every season. Coach Pullins regularly dealt with that. However, we just forgot it was possible under Vance Law.

We will probably keep Kyle Dean another year because of his injury.

BYU is doing nicely, but I see some holes in its pitching rotation. The reason BYU lost to Arizona was BYU didn't want to throw any of its normal pitchers in rotation because it wanted them ready for the USD series. And some of the relievers are less than reliable.

Every good program gets players drafted regularly. BYU has the added problem of missions.

When does baseball sign recruits for next year? November or April? Did BYU sign any notable players for next year?

Colton Shavers may be drafted and Rucker, if he is not a senior, could be gone.

Lund is a junior and should be drafted also.

Friday and Saturday's games against Creighton will be a big test, as it will represent BYU's first games against a ranked opponent. It will also be a test to see if BYU bounces back from its first losing series against St Mary's which now has the inside track on winning the regular season conference title, having defeated Gonzaga and BYU with BYU still to play Gonzaga.

I think BYU wins the series at home against both Creighton and Gonzaga.

Depending on the team psyche, I would not be surprised. The team made a lot of mistakes which they had not made previously against St. Mary's. The first game was disappointing.

I was watching the baseball game last night and the announcer said the BYU coach said that BYU needed to be in the top 40 RPI to get an invite for the post-season. And BYU is at about #54 IIRC.

So there is a good chance BYU will not make the post-season this year.

I was struck by how small and young the BYU players are. All like 5'10" and 175lb. In such contrast to MLB players who look like monsters relative to them.

He is working with what he has. He is in his third season recovering from a complete dumpster fire. The team isn't quite there yet. Their second pitcher, Buffo injured his elbow and that may finish off the season, because you need at least two pitchers to be successful. Now, BYU has only one, Rucker.

Kyle Dean injured his back and has not returned. He is Littlewood's first major recruit. This season may give him hope for next year. We lose only two seniors but about six to missions. The guys playing aren't really even mostly his recruits. They came from two down to win in the ninth again. They have heart, just not enough pitching this year.
