An interesting (and sad) case. I read the article. It sounds like, from the article, that this man may have long been under the influence of paranoid delusions, and might qualify for a diagnosis of schizophrenia.

I watched the video that is linked in the article. Very well-spoken, well-dressed. Does not display disorganized thought processes or behavior. However some folks with schizophrenia, paranoid type do not display disorganized thought processes.

It's a tough deal in this world, where mental healthcare and the legal system overlap. Assuming this man was mentally ill, perhaps if he could have received care, he might not be dead. And many crimes that he committed could have been prevented.
