Default I will not attend a tailgate for a game against

EIU, but I would wear a shirt with a CougarGuard monogram.

I will be attending the Notre Dame game, maybe UNLV, and possibly SDSU.

I went to the tailgate once last year (USC) and there was, like, no food.

I understand the no beer part, but dangit, at least let there be food!

As I'm sure most already know, Provo does not know how to tailgate. If you had a third of the crowd there half an hour before the game, you'd be doing well. But the fine art of tailgating is something I have come to enjoy while here in Eugene. It's a blast getting to the stadium a couple of hours early and hanging out with friends. Especially when the friends are enjoying a little alcohol with their food -- or vice-versa. One game I barely went into the stadium. I'm sure part of that was my lack of affinity towards the Ducks, but, all in all, a good tailgate is well worth the time spent and it's something BYU fans need to learn.

(Disclaimer: The above description of BYU tailgaters is based on information gleaned through experience as a student and may be different now, or have always been different for non-students. But again, many of these non-students are the "blue hairs" and I imagine they don't bring the party to LES, either.)

I experienced BYU tailgating when I was in SLC last weekend. The webmonkey and I went down to see what it was like and to hopefully frighten Y'zGuy away. Anyway when we went there was food it was catered by Lons. Good food, but IMO the best way to tailgate is to cook your food on site.

The problem with the whole thing is not the lack of alcohol consumption but it is just not something the University wants to promote. There is not a dedicated tailgating lot so you just have a few scattered people here and there. Its an alright time but it really isn't an event. It will probably never change there.

I'm with Parrothead I do love tailgating and that is one of the things that I miss most about Utah is tailgating before the Ute games and going to the games. Maybe I will have to go down to a Oregon game to get my fix sometime later in the year. Oh and Parrothead I'm sorry that you live in Eugene I would not wish that on my worst enemy, unless my worst enemy was a hippy. Then again if my worst enemy was a hippy he/she would probably want to live in Eugene so therefore I wouldn't wish it on them.

Default This is what bugs me about BYU tailgating. . .

I know that BYU wants to have their own little shindig in the west parking before the games, and I know that they insist on calling that a tailgate party, but what BYU presents in the west parking lot is not a tailgate party. It is BYU trying to squeeze another couple of bucks out of its fans. BYU will never set aside a parking lot for real tailgating, because they don't really want fans to tailgate unless they can make a buck off of it. Pretty typical for BYU.
