I agree -- there's a lot of non-Laker fan weeping and whaling going on in the Western Conference, but who can blame them? That single, unexplainable move by the Memphis brass to trade away Gasol shifted the balance of power for the next 3-4 years. Gasol for Kwame Brown and Javaris Crittenton?! Excuse me while I go punch myself in the face.

If he held out for remotely equal talent, he would have to give them extensions eventually. He wanted to dump salaries.

This is similar to the Marlins being broken up after their WS championship. Makes no sense from a competitive standpoint.

As you likely know, Jerry West was gone from Memphis for a year before the trade ever took place.

It was a steal, for sure. The Lakers got lucky. Not sure why it is hard to understand, though.

Now that we have laid all that out, feel free to punch yourself in the face. *pow!*

I don't want to re-open this can of worms, but suffice it to say that the star treatment you're referring to, while it exists, is not nearly as frequent as it is claimed, nor does it impact the game as severely as claimed.

I'd recommend a punch to another spot on your body, solely for the comedy involved.

Greg Poppovich, more intimately involved, and far more knowledgeable about basketball than me, you, or anyone on this board, said he wouldn't have called it if he were the ref.

Having listened to that, I, as a Lakers fan who thought it was a 2-shot foul, decided to go with him.

I definitely don't think the Lakers have 6 rings in them. For one thing, Kobe's too old, and for the second, the Lakers have stiffer competition in the form of Utah, New Orleans, and the other upstart young teams in the league.

Which is why he was in the ref's face right after the game.

He's playing a PR game--with the fans, with the refs, with his players. Noone--not you, me, or anyone on this board--knows what he really thought of the call.

Fair enough. I simply like to take people at their word.

Regardless of how significant the impact is or how much it's claimed, it unfortunately does have an impact, big or small.

Maybe Barry should have flopped, that tends to get you the call. He needs acting lessons from Parker.
