Ironic Priesthood lesson
Today was #9 out of the manual, Gifts of the Spirit. But instead of reading one word from the manual, or asking one question from the manual, or asking one question about the topic or anything even remotely related to the topic, the instructor began by telling of the time he bashed with a preacher for 90 minutes and didn't have the spirit with him. Then he proceeded to give us an uninterruped 30-minute lecture about holidays at his grandmother's house, wars in eastern Europe, work as a welder, children, and an honest day's work.

Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!! Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith. |
