Default Contrasting MWC incompetence vs. Big East genius

Quote:
Beyond the fans and viewership, each school benefits monetarily from the deal with each receiving a lump sum from the Big East each year through its television revenue. In 2005, each basketball school received $10 million. While every school agrees to deals with area coverage, the network will still have a small stake in those games, especially with its ESPN Regional distribution. Agreements in other conferences fluctuate.
The Big East / ESPN deal. The contrast just makes you sick. It makes you realize how absolutely HORRIBLE and incompetent the MWC is, from the commissioner to the university presidents to the athletic directors.

Would you care to compare aggregate market sizes between the two conferences? Besides, with the Big10, Big12 and MWC creating their own networks, it's created a more favorable market for the Big East with ESPN than would have existed otherwise.

Would you care to contrast the ratio of market size to the ratio of media exposure.

Sure the Big East has the edge in market size. But the ratio of media exposure approaches infinity:1.

Does this have anyting to do with the fact the Big East is situated in the Northeast and the MWC in the mountain west?

do you and BYU71 meet at truck stops or something?

I'm not saying that MWC should get the same deal. I'm commenting on the fact that the Big East has negotiated unprecedented exposure while the MWC has negotiated oblivion.

Big East's brilliant move was with its football. They get their best teams cherry picked, and instead of folding like the MWC does against the BCS, they go on the offensive. They boot Temple, and they steal Louisville. They keep the conference to a small number instead of overbloating.

Is there a bigger demand for the MWC than what we got? Espn wanted to screw us over (dont believe me ask the wac where boise st. has 3 home games on sunday next year). Making the move to CSTV was right. giving power to comcast was wrong....

The CSTV deal, as signed, was and is a disaster. End of story. Period.

When the deal was signed, ESPN had a potential audience of 290 million. CSTV's was 10 million.

It's still not close.

And, we are not even on CSTV, we don't have local distribution deals (like the Big East), and we aren't even really getting that much money.

And there is nothing we can do about anything, including if the entire thing is sold out from under us and signed over to a russian internet streaming service.

No one could call this a good deal. "We will make you disappear from the planet for less than 1 million per year per team."

Espn offered less and wanted the conference to play on tuesday, friday and sunday... the presidents knew that would kill attendance (where they really make their money) so they had a deal that got them more money and they could play when they wnat... seems better to me

Just because the potential audience is high doesnt mean the real audience will be even close....
