Default Sight or hearing. Which would you rather lose?

I was chatting with the YM in my ward tonight and for some reason, this topic came up.

The consensus amongst the YM was that they'd rather lose their hearing. When I asked them why, they said that they could live without hearing, but wanted to be able to see what was going on around them.

My choice was that I'd rather lose my sight. The reason? Without hearing, I'd miss music. I could turn on the radio and listen to a ball game - be it baseball, basketball, football, etc - and be able to know what was going on by listening. But not being able to hear music would be very, very difficult for me to give up.

How about you folks? Sight or hearing? And no, smell is not one of the choices, though if you've ever been around a dog that has been eating table scraps, I'm sure we could all agree that that would be a good one to lose temporarily.

Since I have a degree in American Sign Language I would rather go Deaf.

I like looking at my wife and kids too much.

Thier noises on the other hand....

I'm obsessive with my music, both in listening and playing it, but I'd have to choose keeping my sight.

I can't imagine being blind.

I would keep my sight as it would be easier to get around with no hearing rather than no seeing.

You can't make this stuff up. I'm guessing the reality is that the basketball team was comprised of deaf students and not blind students. But man, what a SNL skit we could put together if you were playing against a blind basketball team.

It's already been done, sort of. Many, many years ago, on Monty Python's Flying Circus there was a soccer match between the blind, one-legged WWII Veterans and the North Liverpool Gynecologists. The gynos shut out the veterans.

Ah, would you rather...one of my favorite games I'd play with friends. Only a few questions though before each turned sexual in nature and often leading to many laughs and some of the best compartmentalization I have ever heard. Inevitably someone always went too far and conjured up some "Would you rather..." scenario that left us all looking at that person like they just pooped out of their mouth.

I would rather be deaf. I had a class of 6 people in college. One of the kids was deaf. He had a smokin' hot interpreter. The kid would crack me up though because he'd be signing to her and start cracking up in the middle of class, completely unaware at how loud his laugh was and that he sounded like killer whales mating.

Since I'm already deaf in one ear, I guess I would go with hearing. Just having to wear glasses would really bug me.
