Uh, last time I checked, a safety WAS a DB. Do you mean corners?
And Fus is probably right... our D-Line could be scarry... not scarry good, but scarry bad. |

I think we're in for a year like we had in '94 with Walsh. An excellent offense but sometimes even 50 points won't be enough.

You do exactly what BC did to them last season. You make them move the ball down the field methodically by completing 3 yard passes. Chances are, along the drive they'll sputter but you don't give up the big plays. Keep them in front of you and chances are they'll beat themselves. That is how I would play BYU. I was surprised that more people didn't use BCs game plan against us. Sure, you say that the offense progressed, etc. I disagree. I think BC said we'll let you beat us... but you're gonna have to not make any mistakes. BYU made the mistakes and BC won easily.

With all of the experience returning on offense 40 TD's I can see, but no way 50.
There will be even more of an emphasis this season to grind things out in the 4th quarter, which will lessen Beck's TD's. When you've got 3 guys in the backfield in Brown, Vakapuna and Tonga blocking for them, look for BYU to wear opponents down. The offense will be high octane, but it will also be a very bruising one as well. 50 TD's is quite a stretch in my opinion, but I'm glad Beck has a lofty goal.

If Beck throws for 50 TDs that would tell me that it's because Curtis Brown is not being very effective running the ball.
He'd have to average more than 4 TDs a game. If he's serious about it, he's got awfully high expectations for his season. He is aware that the opponents aren't going to roll over and let him do this, isn't he?

Not a chance in HELL BECK THROWS 50 TD PASSES. MARK THAT DOWN.
Now 30-35 is not unreasonable. But expect a season like 2001 (not the record) but a few 55-35 games.

I admire the kid for setting high goals. He's thrown for 5, 15, and 27 TDs the past 3 years. 35 is realistic, 40 would be a good goal, and 50 is VERY unlikely. But if he thinks that he can do it, and if he's willing to work hard for it, he 'could' do it.
One thing I will give Beck credit for is that he does work hard. He probably puts in more effort and time outside of practice than any other guy on the team. |

Yeah I doubt he can get 50 passing TD's this year but I'm glad he has a lofty goal. Now if the BYU offense averages close 50 ppg.....maybe he gets the 50. |
