It's a little bit different when 1) you have a contract and 2) are looking at moving to a direct competitor. Basketball is a bit of a different business than the average Joe changing accounting or law firms.

I loved that quote. It's also too short to be spending time and money to cheer for a basketball player. He's becoming way too whiney. California has made him soft.

I was disappointed tonight.

When I heard that David Archuleta was singing The National Anthem, I was expecting to hear the radiohead song.

Oooh...I like that song. Have you seen it live?

Yes, many times. My favorite on Kid A, for sure.

So you can appreciate my angst when Archuleta starts singing some other song about fireworks and explosions through the night. Boring.

Maybe before Game 4, someone can sing Idioteque (as an ode to the ESA).

PS radiohead is playing in cleveland this summer. If you have never seen them, best you get going.

Well, he's right, but so are you...there are a bazillion things that you could say that about...everyone needs their escape, and if that is how they do it, that's fine.

Actually, you're right. The no-compete clauses stipulated in employment contracts for Joe Sixpack at his local lawfirm is far more important than Fish's contract.

And yes, the right way to do it, if you're under contract with your employer (I fit this situation, BTW, and handled it correctly):

-If/when you find an alternate employer, you ask your current employer to release you from the contract. Typically, you'll work out a notice date (mine was 60 days), and then you're free to move on to your new employment.
