I actually part of the day 2 ride a lot. with my mountain bike I ride up to the west gaining about 1500 - 2000 of elevation in 4 miles then take off on some old mining roads that bring me back home.

If I evere truly start riding, this is a race that I might consider, based on proximity and coolness

Default Absolutely insane

I did the Death Ride this year, which is very similar to Day 1 of Everest. I was done for about 4-5 days afterward. I cannot imagine doing an even more difficult ride on day 2.

A buddy of mine from Redding did Everest 2 years ago and actually finished fairly well. Plan on bundling up in the mornings, as he said that temps were about freezing and many of the other riders were way underdressed.

My short-term memory hasn't faded enough yet from the Death Ride to even allow me to consider doing something like that. Give me a few more months and I might be game to give it a try.

The Death Ride has always intrigued me just because Markleeville is such a cool town.

I could be happy living there.

And people that so these races are asking to walk funny for a good while.
