Default I hope when our team goes bowling in December...

that someone bowls a 300. That would be cool.

This team reminded me of the team in 93 and 94 with Walsh. Huge offensive numbers, but they can score 50 and still lose. (Remember scoring more than 50 and losing to Utah State?)

To me it looks like we'll be able to win 6 games, but we're going to be in a lot of shootouts.

After the first game I predicted 6-5. It's still too early to tell.

It may get worse if the defense has been decimated by injuries.

Funny how Bronco's defenses keep giving up 50+ games, moreso than Schmidt's.

Default Don't tell that to the Bronco faithful...

The defencive unit is only as good as the scheme. I am completely done with the 3-3-5. No way this type of gimmick survives into the future. I applaud the effort, but by the end of the game we end up injured or tired or both. To succeed in the 3-3-5 you need four things:

Good athletic corners
Speed
Speed
and
Speed.

We have none of them...hense our lack of productivity.

Bottom line...love Bronco so far, but he must be flexible in changing his defense to suit our strong points--large lumbering linbackers.

Default If you have...

good corners and tons of speed, any scheme will work.

It's the Miami effect. Doesn't matter what scheme you use with that level of talent it will look great. Conversely, the absense of great talent can only be schemed around to a degree.

This doesn't hurt you so much on offense where a good plan and great execution and one or two good players can it it done. But on defense where it is all about reaction speed and instinct it kills. This is why I think BYU will continue to have very respectable offensive and average to poor defensive units for the forseeable future.
