"Nicholson Baker's nonfiction work about World War II has generated controversy.

So it's no surprise that novelist Nicholson Baker's latest venture into nonfiction, "Human Smoke," has stirred up strong feelings. After all, he questions the popular notion of the just war and indicates that Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt share blame with Adolf Hitler in setting the stage for the deadliest and most destructive war in history."

Looks like an interesting read.

This isn't new. Charles Lindburgh and Joseph Kennedy thought the same thing. Patrick Buchanan, that makes sense.

I saw a PBS show a few weeks ago on Roosevelt. Apparently Roosevelt did all he could to get the U.S. into the war, even lying to the American public. God forbid.

A lot of Japanese believe that Roosevelt actually had opportunity to warn the folks at Pearl Harbor, because he knew of the attack plenty of time in advance, but did not do so because he felt he would finally be able to enter the war as a result.
