Not everybody hates gays. They are not a universal bad guys.

Polygamists, NAZIs, some Stalinists and occasionally, Communist Chinese are universal bad guys. These are strawmen attacks.

When you're not making hay, you knock a strawman down. I'm not claiming Republicans don't do the same thing, but gays are NOT universally disliked, even within the Republican Party, so a politician who attacks gay issues will be divisive and not universally regarded as a winner.

So no, the analogy doesn't work.

Harry picked a universal loser, which translates, he hopes, into a universal winner for him.

Polygamy within the US is limited to a few enclaves in the hinterlands, affecting a few thousand ignoramuses, who couldn't otherwise attract a man or woman. In fact, by virtue of their seclusion, they're not even part of society.

In Islamic cultures, it means wealthy men are supporting women who might not otherwise receive support. Or maybe it could mean that.

More importantly, polygamy is illegal. So you believe that gay marriage is on par with polygamy should be tantamount to the same? Then it should remain illegal.

It would make sense that no data on the harm can exist on something that has always been illegal, but where is the significant data, other than anecdotal, on the grave social harm of polygamy which at one time was tolerated in the Rocky Mountains?

It's easy to throw rubrics out.

Now I don't advocate polygamy, don't believe it will ever catch on in the US in light modern desires of women and society and therfore do not believe it is this overbearing, heinous problem that is likely to become the scourge of the US. It is not something becoming popular, not a modern issue, but a vestige of a bygone era.

Child enslavement should not happen, and for the most part, does not happen.
