Default Pro-Obama, Pro-Prop. 8.

There had to have been a huge number of folks who voted for Obama and Prop 8 in California. Also interesting that the constitutions of two other states will be similarly amended. One of them, Florida, was carried by Obama this year as well.

I think it is fair to say that it is the Republican party rather than conservatism itself that was repudiated in this election cycle. Good luck President Obama, may you govern from the center as you have promised to do.

I read an LA Times article that said a strong majority of blacks favored Prop. 8, a majority of whites opposed it, and Latinos were evenly divided. How rich is that irony? Mormons and blacks unite to kill gay marriage in California, to amend California's Constitution to abridge civil liberties.

No kidding. Another hollow victory.

Hardly. Whatever one thinks of the gay marriage issue itself, this is at the very least a slap to the CA Supreme Court's face.

Let the voters decide, not 4 judges.

Big ol' red herring. Or a long-dead horse. Pick your cliche metaphor.

Here is the article:

I've got news for you, UtahDan. This has nothing to do with conservative vs. liberal. Mormons found a strange bed fellow--Obama's base.

As has been pointed out here already, there is a huge difference on how gay issues are viewed based on age. Young people are significantly more tolerant (insert your preferred word here) than their parents. This issue isn't going away. 10-20 years from now this will all be reversed.

Wishful thinking, IMO, but all the same ... bring it on, I say! Let's have a debate! Make your case and let's have a vote!

Keep the legislating from the bench out of it.
